Video Seminar on “China-Argentine Relations in the Regional Integration of Latin America and Asia”

SIIS co-organized a video conference with the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI) on the topic of “China-Argentine Relations in the Regional Integration of Latin America and Asia” on October 13, 2011. Dr. Félix Peña,Dr. Carola Ramon-Berjano, Prof. Zhang Mingde and Dr. Niu Haibin made presentations on experiences and new challenges of regional integration, complementarities and challenges of China-Latin America relationship, China-Argentine relationship, and thinking on future China-Latin American relationship respectively. The panelists also exchanged their thoughts on issues like foreign reserves of developing countries, trend and role of G20, and the reform of the United Nations Security Council. SIIS president Yang Jiemian and CARI chairman Adalberto Rodriguez Giavarini saw great value on the previous cooperation, and announced the establishment of “Chinese-Argentine Academic Council” to promote the academic cooperation between two institutions. Vice president Chen Dongxiao and Ambassador Miguel Velloso delivered concluding remarks for the conference which was chaired by Prof. Wu Chunsi, director of Center for American Studies.
