The SIIS serving president Chen Dongxiao and former president Yang Jiemian sent a message of congratulations on August 14 to Mr. Xu Haoliang for his new appointment as UN Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and expressed their pride in having a Shanghai native to assume this important job. Mr. Xu Haoliang replied on August 14 in the thank-you message that he would continue his cooperation with the SIIS in the new capacity in the service of world’s peace and development.
