SIIS Holds International Conference on “CICA Shanghai Summit: Asian Security and Development Cooperation-Challenges and Opport

On March 21-22, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies holds international conference on CICA Shanghai Summit: Asian Security and Development Cooperation- Challenges and Opportunities. Participants, who are from Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Thailand, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, Tajikistan, Korea, India, Ukraine and China etc, have a warm discussion on CICA and new security concept in Asia, Asia’s security mechanism, regional economic integration and economic cooperation between CICA member states, building the New Silk Road by joint efforts, prospects for cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchange and establishing the CICA council of think tanks. SIIS President Chen Dongxiao chairs the opening ceremony while Mr. Su Fangqiu, Deputy Director-General of Department of European-Central Asia Affairs of MFA of China, and Prof. Yang Jiemian, Chairman of SIIS Academic Council, deliver keynote speeches.
