SIIS Holds the ASEM Think-Tank Symposium

On July 22-23, 2014, Hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organized by SIIS, the ASEM Think-Tank Symposium is held in Shanghai. The two-day Symposium is initiated by China and co-sponsored by EU, Mongolia, Poland and Singapore. 60 experts and officials from 27 ASEM countries attend the symposium and have deep discussions on the theme of the symposium, i.e. “Connectivity: Opportunity to Boost ASEM Cooperation”. Amb. Zhang Xiaokang, Senior Official of ASEM and SIIS President Chen Dongxiao deliver the opening remarks. Prof. Yang Jiemian, Chairman of SIIS Council of Academic Affairs makes the concluding remark and reads the Chair's Summary Statement of the symposium. The Chair's Summary Statement, which places emphasis on connectivity as the new opportunity to boost ASEM cooperation, is endorsed by all the participants of the symposium and will be presented to the upcoming ASEM Senior Official Meeting for consideration.
