SIIS Holds the Symposium on “China’s West meets Europe’s East: going beyond established Sino-European cooperation”

On December 4-5, SIIS and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stifung (FES) held the international symposium on “China’s West meets Europe’s East: going beyond established Sino-European cooperation”. SIIS President Chen Dongxiao attended the symposium and delivered the opening remarks. SIIS Vice President Yang Jian attended the public panel session and delivered the introduction remarks. 25 experts from European side and Chinese side participated in the symposium and had in-depth discussions on China-CEECs 16+1 mechanism, China-Central Asia cooperation, and EU’s Eastern Partnership/ European Neighborhood Policy. Based on these discussions, the participants further delved into the question of how to work out the realm of the Silk Road Economic Belt as an engine of China-Europe relationship in the changing geopolitics.
