President Chen led a delegation to visit the United States

From April 26 to May 1, President Chen Dongxiao led the SIIS delegation to the United States. The delegation visited Chinese Embassy in the U.S. and exchanged views with Chinese diplomats of the Embassy on current Sino-U.S. relationship and the coming U.S. Presidential election. After the exchange, Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Cui Tiankai, met with the delegation. Chinese Executive Director in World Bank, Mr. Chen Shixin, also met with the delegation and had discussion on the cooperation between China and the World Bank and the latest development of international development cooperation framework. Besides, the delegation visited and had meetings with numerous U.S. government and academic institutions, including the Department of State, the Congressional staff, Brookings Institution, 2049 Project, the Heritage Foundation, Rand Corporation, Council on Foreign Relations and Mansfield Foundation. SIIS delegation and its U.S. counterparts had very fruitful discussion and exchanges on broad topics like U.S. political and economic situation, the coming U.S. election and Sino-U.S. relationship.
