SIIS Delegation Visits USA

From July 13 to July 17, SIIS delegation led by Prof. Yang Jiemian, Chairman of SIIS Academic Council, visited the United States of America. During the stay, the delegation attended the launching ceremony of the joint report “Exploring Avenues for China-U.S. Cooperation on the Middle East”, met with Mr. William J. Burns, President of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the former Deputy Secretary of State, Mr. Joe Cerrell, Managing Director for Global Policy Advocacy at the Gates Foundation, Mr. Jerry Brown, Governor of California, and talked with Ms. Bonnie Glaser, Senior Adviser for Asia of Center for Strategic and International Studies, Mr. Karl Eikenberry, Director of U.S.-Asia Security Initiative at the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center of Stanford University and Former U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan. The two sides talked about the New Type of Major-country Relations between China and U.S., South China Sea issue, Asian security architecture, China-US cooperation on development issue, and China-US cooperation at local level.
