On August 7 to 8, SIIS President Chen Dongxiao attended APLN Annual Members Meeting for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament held in Hiroshima, Japan. Amb. Sha Zukang, former UN Under-Secretary-General and Secretary-General of the Conference on Sustainable Development and General (ret.) Pan Zhenqiang, former Director of the Institute of Strategic Studies of National Defense University also participated as Chinese representatives. About 30 former officials and scholars from 12 countries attended the conference. Hiroshima Declaration on Nuclear Weapons was issued during the conference.
