SIIS Held Symposium on “the Maritime Silk Road and the China-Sri Lanka Relations”

On Nov. 5th,supported by Chinese Embassy to Sri Lanka, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and the Pathfinder Foundation (Sri Lanka) co-held a symposium on “the Maritime Silk Road and the China-Sri Lanka Relations”. President Chen Dongxiao, Amb. Bernard Goonetilleke, Chairman of the Pathfinder Foundation gave opening remarks. Prof. Yang Jiemian, Chairman of SIIS Academic Council and Mr. Shirantha Herath, Chairman of the Ministry of Southern Development (Sri Lanka) gave the wrapping-up. Amb. Zhou Gang, Former Chinese Ambassador to India, Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia, Admiral Dr. Jayanath Colombage, Former Sri Lankan Navy Command, and other 50 distinguished guests from academic and business circle were invited to participate to the meeting.
During the meeting, SIIS and the Pathfinder Foundation (Sri Lanka) signed a Memorandum on Exchange, Understanding and Cooperation to enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two units.
