A Symposium on “The New World Order and Cross-Strait Relations” held at SIIS

On Feb.27, 2016, the 20th symposium on The New World Order and Cross-Strait Relations was held at SIIS. With the participation of Mr. Sun Yafu, Vice Chairman of the Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits, the opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. Shao Yuqun, Director of the Taiwan, Macao and Hongkong Studies, SIIS. Prof. Chen Dongxiao, President of SIIS and Dr. Wan-chin Tai, Vice President for International Affairs, Tamkang University reviewed 20 years of exchanges and looked forward to the future cooperation between the two sides. Mr. Li Wenhui, Director-General of Shanghai Taiwan Affairs Office gave his congratulations and appreciation to the contribution of this annual symposium over the past two decades. Prof. Yang Jiemian, Chairman of SIIS Academic Council, and Prof. Kao-cheng Wang, Dean of the College of International Studies, Tamkang University gave keynote speech and Prof. Yan Anlin, Vice President of SIIS delivered closing remarks. Scholars from Shanghai Institute for Taiwan Studies, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai Jiaotong University, East China Normal University, Shanghai University had a discussion on the new world order, political situation in Taiwan, new trends of Cross-Strait relations, and policy recommendations for peaceful development of Cross-Strait relations etc.
