International Conference on From Knowledge to Action: G20 Global Energy Governance Innovation held at SIIS

On March 11-12, 2016, the SIIS, Lowy Institute for International Policy (Australia),Korea Development Institute (KDI), Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI, Canada) co-sponsored an international conference on From Knowledge to Action: G20 Global Energy Governance Innovation. With President Chen Dongxiao’s opening remarks, Prof. Liu Yanhua, Counselor for the State Council of China, Former Vice Minister of Science and Technology and Ms. Misako Takahashi, Head of Division, Asia Pacific and Partnerships, Office of Global Energy Policy, IEA gave keynote speeches. More than 30 experts from the U.S., Russia, Japan, Canada, Singapore, and institutions in China attended the conference. The participants had a discussion on topics including geopolitical challenges for global energy collaboration; global energy cooperation and institutional innovation; efficient infrastructure establishment and information networks; market and financing innovation; synergistic development with environmental protection. This conference aims to improve understanding on the key issues about the global energy market and the role of the G20 in global energy governance. It seeks consensus on the policy recommendations for the 2016 G20 Summits.
