On April 28, 2016, President Chen Dongxiao was invited to attend the symposium on China and the U.N. Peacekeeping Operations organized by the U.N. Association of China. Ambassador Lu Shumin, President of the U.N. Association of China gave an opening remark. Officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Public Security and scholars from China Academy of Social Sciences, China Institute of International Studies, China Foreign Affairs University, National University of Defense Technology etc. had a discussion on opportunities and challenges of the U.N. peacekeeping mission and China’s role in in peacekeeping operations. President Chen also had a meeting with Ambassador Wu Hailong, President of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs.
