On July 27, 2016, a roundtable of “People to People Diplomacy: Opportunities and Challenges” was hosted by SIIS. President Chen Dongxiao and Ms. Jing Ying, Vice President of the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (SPAFFC) gave opening remarks. Ambassador Yu Hongjun, member of the Committee of Foreign Affairs of CPPCC delivered a keynote speech. Experts from Beijing and Shanghai including Prof. Yu Xintian, chairperson of SIIS advisory committee, Prof. Wu Jinan, vice chair of SIIS advisory committee, Prof. Yu Hongyuan, director of the Institute for comparative political and public policy studies, SIIS and senior officials from Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office participated in the meeting. They had a discussion on the challenges and mission of people to people diplomacy in a new era, approaches of enhancing people to people exchanges and inclusiveness of diversified cultures, and Shanghai’s contribution etc.
