During June 6-14, 2016, Vice President Yang Jian led a SIIS delegation to Finland, Estonia and France. The delegation attended the Forth China-Nordic Arctic Cooperation Symposium, and met with Mr. Yu Qingtai, Chinese Ambassador to Finland, and Ms. Maria Lohela, speaker of the Finnish Parliament. In Estonia, Vice President Yang Jian gave a keynote speech at the workshop on China in the world politics hosted by Prof. Rein Mullerson, research fellow of Tallinn University and former Estonian Deputy Foreign Minister. The delegation also had a meeting with Mr. Qu Zhe, Chinese Ambassador to Estonia, and Mr. Paul Teesalu, Political Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Estonia. During their stay in France, the delegation visited the OECD headquarter and had a discussion with Mr. Erik Solheim, Chairman of Development Assistance Committee (DAC), OECD and Executive Director-designate of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on G20 Hangzhou Summit and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda etc. The SIIS group also paid a visit to the Center for Analysis, Planning and Strategy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development of France and Asia Center. The two sides had a discussion on the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries, the referendum on Britain’s EU membership, and Russia-Europe relations during sanctions etc.
