Tung Chee-hwa, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People"s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), accompanied by Guan Weiyong, Vice-Secretary-General of Shanghai Committee of CPPCC, visited SIIS on the afternoon of May 30, 2008 and was reported by SIIS specialists on China’s Current Foreign relations and so on. President Yang Jiemian, V. President Chen Dongxiao, Director Yu Xintian of Academic Committee, and other relevant specialists were present at the meeting. Vice Chairman Tung highly appreciated SIIS for its policy recommendations provided over recent years for the decision-making and implementation on China’s foreign policy strategy, for its efforts and achievements made in building SIIS into an “innovative” think thank. Afterwards, Tung advised SIIS specialists of their research work for the following years.
