Abstract: The Obama administration has changed US uncooperative and tough position on the Middle East affairs in order to make up for the mistakes the Bush administration made in the region. The new administration’s policy pursues dialogues and cooperation with the conflicting parties in the region. That policy is a bit similar with Russia for its Middle East strategy and policy goals. And Russia also hopes to use the US for its goal of promoting Russia’s position and influence in the world stage. However, in general, Russia and the US compete with each other more than cooperate in the world. The cooperation between the two sides over Middle East affairs is thus also full of uncertainty due to changes of situation and their respective interests there.
