International Symposium on “The North Korea Nuclear Issue and Sino-U.S. Cooperation” held in SIIS

July 6, International Symposium on “The North Korea Nuclear Issue and Sino-U.S. Cooperation” sponsored by Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and Pudong Institute for the U.S. Economy of Pudong Academy of Development is held in SIIS. Dr. John S. Park, Senior Research Associate & Director of Northeast Asia Projects based in U.S. Institute of Peace, Ms. Duyeon Kim, Deputy Director of Nuclear Non-Proliferation from Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation and Prof. Yu Wanli of School of International Studies of Peking University together with SIIS fellows Dr. Gong Keyu, Deputy Director of Center for Asia-Pacific Studies, Dr. Yu Yingli, Chief of China’s Diplomacy Department of Institute for Foreign Policy Studies and Dr. Jin Liangxiang, Chief of Peripheral Security Department of Institute for International Strategic Studies and among others fully exchanged views on the issues of the development of Korean Peninsula, US’ policy towards the region and China’s policy towards the Peninsula. Prior to the symposium, Dr. John S. Park and Ms. Duyeon Kim delivered a speech respectively on the theme of “US" policy toward Northeast Asia and US-DPRK relations” and “the North Korean nuclear issue and the six-party talks”.
