The seminar entitled “Transition of International System and Outlook of China-Africa Co-operation Forum” was held by Shanghai Institutes for International Studies on August 28. SIIS President Yang Jiemian and former ambassador to Eritrea Shu Zhan made speeches at the opening ceremony, which was chaired by Director Li Weijian of Center for West Asian & African Studies (SIIS). More than thirty scholars and officials were present, including Vice Chairman Shu Yunguo of Chinese Society of African Historical Studies, Senior Journalist Wang Nan of People’s Daily, Chief Editor Wang Gangyi of Beijing Review, President Osita Eze of Nigeria Institute of International Affairs, Director Alex Vines of Africa Program at Chatham House, Jean Marie Cishahayo, Consultant of United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Tang Zhenqi, Chinese former ambassador to Namibia, researcher Gu Zhenglong, Center for World Affairs at Xinhua News Agency, Prof. Xu Weizhong of China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, researcher Zhang Zhongxiang of SIIS and so on.
The two-day seminar includes the subjects of the transition of international system and its impacts on Sino-African relations; impacts of emerging powers on Sino-African relations; the expectation of international society on Sino-African relations and China-Africa Co-operation Forum; promoting international co-operation on African affairs; African perspective on Sino-African relations and China-Africa Co-operation Forum; opportunities and challenges of the Forum; sustainable develop of the Forum; and the policy advices on the 4th China-Africa Co-operation Forum.
