October 9, SIIS President Chen Dongxiao meets with Amb. Shalom Cohen, Acting Consul General of Israel and talks about bilateral academic exchanges. Afterwards,  Amb. Cohen delivers a speech on Middle East situation to research fellows of the Center for West Asian & African Studies and SIIS graduate students. Dr. Ye Qing, Assistant President & Director of the Center for West Asian & African Studies, chairs the meeting.
