From September 27 to 29, Amb. Karl W. Eikenberry, former U.S Ambassador to Afghanistan visits SIIS as the visiting scholar. Amb. Eikenberry gives a lecture on Afghanistan issues to SIIS researchers. SIIS President Chen Dongxiao chairs the lecture. Amb. Eikenberry also receives video interview of SIIS website. Prof. Yang Jiemian, and research fellows from the Institute for International Strategic Studies, the Center for American Studies, and the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies meet with the ambassador and exchange views on US national security strategy, Sino-US security cooperation, Afghanistan situations, and some other issues.
