On December 23, Lt General Datuk Dr William Rangit Stevenson, Chief Executive of the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS), and Ms Siti Salmiah binti Haji Dimyati, Senior Director of the Comprehensive Defence and Security Research Centre at MiDAS, visited SIIS. SIIS President Chen Dongxiao met with Gen. Stevenson and Ms Haji Dmyati. Gen Stevenson and Ms Haji Dmyati had the roundtable discussion on China-Malaysia relations, China-ASEAN relations, and 21^st Maritime Silk Road with Prof. Yang Jiemian, Chairman of the Council of SIIS Academic Affairs, Prof. Zhao Gancheng, Director of the Center for Asian Pacific Studies, Prof. Cai Penghong, senior research fellow of the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies, Dr. Zhang Zhexin, Assistant Director of the Institute for Taiwan Hong Kong & Macao Studies, Dr. Zhou Shixin, research fellow of the Center for Asian Pacific Studies, and Dr. Xue Chen, research fellow of the Institute for Strategic Studies.
