International Seminar on China-Africa Relations Held in SIIS

On June 3rd, SIIS and the Safer World co-hosted the international seminar entitled “China’s Role in Supporting Peace and Development in Africa”. The main topics discussed in the conference are: (1) China’s role in addressing the root-causes of conflict in Africa; (2) the future of peace in East Africa; (3) shifting global power relations and global governance (4) how the sixth Forum on China Africa Cooperation could help deliver on the sustainable development goals.
Participants reached important consensus on issues of constructing Africa security architecture, building diversified African security governance system and how the FOCAC could play a larger role in upholding peace and stability. Foreign experts from U.K., South Africa, Sudan, and Kenya as well as Chinese scholars from the China University of Political Science and Law, Zhejiang Normal University, Wuhan University and SIIS attended the conference.
