Delegation of the Royal College of Defense Studies (UK) Visited SIIS

On June 3, 2016, headed by Mr. James Kidner, senior directing staff of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, a delegation of the Royal College of Defense Studies (RCDS, UK) visited SIIS. Officials from the British Embassy in China and Consuls from the British Consulate-General in Shanghai also joined the tour. More than 20 senior military officers and diplomats from Europe, Middle East and Africa including Rear Admiral John Kingwell, Deputy Commandant of RCDS had a meeting with Prof. Zhang Haibing, director of the Institute for World Economic Studies, Prof. Ye Jiang, senior fellow of the Institute for Global Governance, Ms. Li Fangxia, deputy director of the department for international exchanges, Prof. Ye Yu, Dr. Xue Lei, Dr. Xue Chen and Dr. Wang Yuzhu. The two sides had very intensive discussion on the South China Sea issue, the strategic significance of “One Belt and One Road” Initiative, China’s perspective on the integration of Europe, and internet management in China etc.
