Group of Afghan Think Tank Scholars Visit SIIS

During July 25-28th, 2016, invited by Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan, a group of Afghan think tank scholars visited Shanghai and SIIS was the local host for the group in Shanghai. Headed by Mr. Mohammad Bashir Aman, deputy director of Center for Strategic Studies in Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, the delegation consisted of nearly 10 researchers from Center for Strategic Studies and Peace and Conflict Research Institute etc. President Chen Dongxiao had a meeting with the group. SIIS assistant President Prof. Ye Qing hosted a discussion session on the security condition in Afghanistan, China’s policy towards Afghanistan, and counter terrorism situation in Afghanistan etc. Prof. Zhao Gancheng, Prof. Liu Zongyi from the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies and Prof. Wang Jian, deputy director of Institute of History Studies of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) also participated in the discussion. The visit was escorted by China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations and Foreign Affairs Office of Xin Jiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
