On September 2, 2016, led by Dr. Erlan Karin, President of Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan (KazISS), a group of five KazISS scholars visited SIIS. They had a meeting with Prof. Yang Jian, Vice President of SIIS. Prof. Li Xin, director of the Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies, Prof. Qiang Xiaoyun, deputy director of the Center and Dr. Feng Shuai also participated in the discussion. The two sides exchanged views on China-U.S. relations, China-Russia relations, political landscape in Central Asia, and Silk Road Economic Belt etc.
