On September 5, 2016, former U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry gave a speech on the U.S. general election and U.S.-China relations for research fellows, visiting fellows and graduate students. The lecture was chaired by Prof. Yang Jiemian, chairman of SIIS Academic Council. Ambassador Eikenberry also had a meeting with Prof. Wu Chunsi, director of the Institute for International Strategic Studies, Prof. Zhao Gancheng, Prof. Jin Liangxiang and their colleagues. The two sides had a discussion on the U.S.-China relations, China-Russia relations, and U.S. Middle East policy etc.
