On October 27, 2016, the 107^th congressional staff delegation organized by the US-Asia Institute visited SIIS. The delegation was headed by Mr. Thomas Van Flein, chief of staff of Congressman Paul Gosar, Republican from Arizona. Prof. Shao Yuqun, director of the Institute for Taiwan, Hongkong and Macao Studies of SIIS had a meeting with the delegation on the social and economic issues of China-US relations. Dr. Xue Chen and Dr. Cao Jiahan also participated in the discussion.
