On March 11, 2017, the U.S.-China City Diplomacy roundtable workshop was held in SIIS. Prof. Yu Hongyuan, director of the Institute for Comparative Politics and Public Policy, SIIS chaired the meeting. The U.S. participants included Mr. Carson Tavenner, Executive Director of the Tai Initiative, Mr. William Wild, Mayor of Westland, Mr. Tom Kneeland, Mayor of Gahanna, Mr. Tony Slanec, Principal of OHM Advisors and their colleagues. They had a discussion with Chinese scholars on city diplomacy, infrastructure development, urbanization in China and U.S. etc. Prof. Zheng Hua from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Prof. Xu Zecheng from Fudan University, Dr. Xue Qiyong from Shanghai International Studies University etc. attended the workshop.
