SIIS Holds the Conference on “China-IGAD Cooperation for Peace and Security in Horn of Africa”

From March 31 to April 1, 2017, SIIS, Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), African Policy Institute (API), Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies at Nairobi University (IDIS), and the Cater Center co-held the conference on “China-IGAD Cooperation for Peace and Security in Horn of Africa”. SIIS President Chen Dongxiao, Mr. Abebe Muluneh, Director of the IGAD Security Sector Program, Dr. Job Bob Wekesa, Senior Fellow, of API, Amb. Maria Nzomo, Director of IDIS, and Jordan Dimock Ryan, Vice President of the Cater Center delivered the opening remarks. Participants had in-depth discussions on peace and security challenges in the horn of Africa, non-traditional security and early warning system, and the outlook of China-IGAD cooperation.
