On July 4, 2017, Admiral Bobby Inman, former Director of the US National Security Agency visited SIIS. SIIS President Chen Dongxiao and Prof. Yang Jiemian, Chairman of the Council of SIIS Academic Affairs met with Adm. Inman. The two sides exchanged views on the US perspective on the Korea peninsula, the possible cooperation between China and the US on the Belt & Road Initiative, and the economic and trade relations between the two countries. Prof. Wu Chunsi, Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies, Prof. Shao Yuqun, Director of the Institute for Taiwan, Hong Kong & Macao Studies, and Mr. Yang Li from the Center for Maritime and Polar Affairs participated in the meeting.
