On July 12, 2017, the international seminar on BRICS in a Transitional World Order was co-organized by SIIS, Center for BRICS Studies, Fudan University and the Institute of World Economy, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.

SIIS President Chen Dongxiao gave an opening remark. He pointed out that it was a good timing to share insights and wisdom of experts from BRICS countries on the future development of the BRICS in a transitional world facing three major challenges, including the balanced economic growth, polarization of global politics, and the double edge effect of digital economy.

Nearly 40 experts from Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa, and China had a discussion on four issues: Role of BRICS in Reshaping Globalization and Policy Options, Visions and Contributions of BRICS to the Shifting World Order, BRICS, the 2030 Agenda and International Development Cooperation, BRICS and the Enlargement of Its Partnership.
