Arica-China-America Peace and Security Dialogue Held at SIIS

On October 16, 2017, the SIIS and the Carter Center (USA) co-sponsored the Arica-China-America Peace and Security Dialogue in Shanghai.

SIIS President Chen Dongxiao and Mr. Jordan Ryan, Vice President for Peace Program, the Carter Center delivered opening remarks.

Prof. Yang Jiemian, chairman of SIIS Academic Affairs Council, Amb. Zhong Jianhua, Chinas former Special Representative on African Affairs, and Amb. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UN Office for West Africa and Sahel gave keynote speeches respectively.

Nearly 30 invitees including governmental officials, scholars, entrepreneurs from China, U.S. and African countries had a discussion on the following topics: (1) African peace and security challenges; (2) experience sharing on waging peace in Africa; (3) Africa-China-America trilateral cooperation on peace and security.
