SIIS hosts International Conference on Governance and Diplomacy in the Context of Global Uncertainty

Through December 2-3, 2017, SIIS hosted the international conference on Governance and Diplomacy in the Context of Global Uncertainty in Shanghai. Nearly 20 SIIS international advisors from the U.S., Japan, Republic of Korea, India, Denmark, Romania, Slovenia, Argentina, Singapore, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, South Africa and leading scholars from thinktanks and universities were invited to share their insights on the transformation of international orders, opportunities and challenges facing the region of Asia-Pacific, and the implications of China’s major country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics for a new era etc.

Mr. Xu Kunlin, vice mayor of Shanghai, was invited to give a speech.

In the opening session, SIIS President Chen Dongxiao warmly welcomed distinguished guests from home and abroad. President Chen also conveyed CPPCC Vice Chairman and chairman of SIIS international advisory council Mr. Tung Chee Hwa’s congratulation to this annual meeting.

Prof. Yang Jiemian, Chairman of SIIS Academic Affairs Council, then gave a keynote speech on CPC 19th National Congress and Chinas foreign relations. Prof. Yang shared his views on Chinas foreign relations in the past five years, domestic and foreign policy goal buildings, future directions of Chinas foreign relations, foreseeable and unforeseeable events.
