Chairman of SIIS Academic Affairs Council Yang Jiemian headed a delegation to the United States from May 12 to 17, 2018, including APARC, Stanford, US National Security Council, Eurasia Group, US State Department, Council on Foreign Relations, Brookings Institution, and Georgetown University. In these occasions, Prof. Yang exchanged views on the future of China-U.S. relations, China-U.S. strategic dialogues, and Asia-Pacific security cooperation.
During the visit, Prof. Yang also met with Ambassador Cui Tiankai, Chinese Ambassador to the U.S., Amb. Luo Linquan, Chinese Consul-General in San Francisco, Amb. Zhang Qiyue, Chinese Consul-General in New York, and discussed China-U.S. relations and China-U.S. cooperation in economy and trade. Director of the Institute for International Strategic Studies Wu Chunsi and other colleagues were among the delegation.
During the visit in San Francisco from May 12 to 13, the delegation met with Amb. Lin Qinquan, Chinese Consul-General in San Francisco, and Amb. Karl W. Eikenberry, Director at Stanford APARC, and held a roundtable discussion with scholars, including Senior Fellow Donald K. Emmerson at Stanford Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, on the topic of future development of China-U.S. relations and regional security.
