On July 30 2018, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies hosted the Second Seminar on Relationship between China and Indo-Pacific Countries & the Taiwan Question.
Prof. Yan Anlin, Vice President of SIIS, Mr. Jusuf Wanandi, Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees, CSIS, Indonesia and Mr. Li Xiaodong, Deputy Director of Taiwan Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government delivered opening remarks.
Over 30 scholars from Philippines, India, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, New Zealand and China discussed on topics such as the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI) and the relationship between China and Pacific- Indo countries, current status of cross-strait relations and future development, challenges from Taiwan internal politics and DPP’s external policy. Representatives from Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and Taiwan Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal Government participated in the seminar.
