On December 6, 2018, Prof. Stefan Dercon, Professor of Economic Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford visited SIIS. Prof. Yang Jiemian, Chairman of the Council of SIIS Academic Affairs met with Prof. Dercon and exchanged views on Belt & Road Initiative, aid to Africa and poverty alleviation. Prof. Yang Jiemian also had a discussion with Mr. John Edwards, British Consul General in Shanghai. Dr. Zhang Haibing, SIIS Assistant President and Director of the Institute for World Economic Studies, Dr. Zhang Chun, Director of the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies and Dr. Zha Xiaogang, research fellow of the Institute for World Economic Studies attended the meeting.
