SIIS-Bush School Graduate Student Exchange Program held at SIIS

Through May 21-26, 2019, a delegation of graduate students from the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University (U.S.) visited SIIS and had academic exchanges with SIIS students.

During the week-long exchange program, the graduate students from the U.S. and China participated in three academic seminars on different topics. SIIS scholars were invited to share their observation and thoughts on world economy, geo-resource governance, and security issues.

Dr. Xue Lei, research fellow of the Institute for World Economy Studies gave a speech on “China's New Foreign Investment Law: Background and Implications”.

Dr. Yu Hongyuan, Director of the Institute for Comparative Politics & Public Policy Studies gave a speech on “Geo-Resource Governance and China-US Cooperation”.

Dr. Xue Chen, research fellow of the Institute for International Strategic Studies gave a speech on “The East Asia Security Dilemma by Trust Deficit: the Korean Peninsula and the South China Sea”.

The students also visited other institutions and cultural spots including Shanghai Petroleum and Natural Gas Exchange, Shanghai World Cities Day Coordination Center, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, Guang Qi Park, Shanghai Historic Museum, Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum, Tu Shan Wan Museum, etc.

This academic exchange was part of the institutional exchange program between SIIS and the Bush School. Students from both sides had in-depth communications by learning and on-site visits.
