On April 8, 2020, a video conference on International Cooperation on Pandemic Control and China-US Relations is held at Shanghai Institutes for International Studies. This conference is chaired by Professor Yang Jiemian, Chairman of SIIS Academic Affairs Council, and participated by President Chen Dongxiao, Dr. Wu Chunsi and Dr. Ye Yu. American participants include Professor Susan Shirk, Chair of the 21st Century China Center and Research Professor at the School of Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California, San Diego, Professor Thomas Fingar, Shorenstein APARC Fellow in the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University and Professor Karl Eikenberry, former US ambassador to Afghanistan. Two sides have a candid and in-depth discussion on China-US relations at present and in the future, stressing the priority of people’s lives and health under the current situation and the importance of maintaining and developing a stable bilateral relations.
