On April 29th,2021, Chen Dongxiao, President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies attended the cloud summit on ”China-Europe-US multilateralism”, organized by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies and Europe-China Forum. Experts from China, the United States and Europe had an in-depth discussion on their respective understanding of multilateralism and how to carry out international cooperation.

Gao Anming, Senior researcher of Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, Deputy Director and Chief Editor of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration delivered a keynote speech. Chinese participants included Du Zhanyuan, Director of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, KongQuan, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, Hu Zhengyue, Vice President of China Association for Public diplomacy and former Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chen Wenlin, Chief Economist of China International Economic Exchange Center, Zhao Jinping, Former Director of the Department of Foreign Economic Research of the Development Research Center of the State Council and YU Yunquan, Dean of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies.
Foreign participants included Mr. Romano Prodi, Former President of the European Commission, Mr. Javier Solana, Former Secretary General of NATO, Amb. Luca Ferrari, Former Italian ambassador to China, Mr. Pascal Boniface,President of IFRI,Lt. Gen. Giuseppe Cucchi, Military Representative of Italy, Mrs. Joan McEntee,former U.S. Department of Commerce Deputy Secretary, Amb. Eugenio Bregolat, Former Spanish ambassador to China, and Mrs. Daniela Bobeva, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria.
President Chen proposed that China, the US and Europe should provide more public goods, stand against “vaccine nationalism”, save our ecosystem and strengthen cooperation on sci-tech innovation.
