On August 26, 2021, President Chen Dongxiao of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies joined in a virtual dialogue with H.E. Ambassador Bolat Nurgaliyev, Chairman of the Board of the Foreign Policy Research Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan (FPRI), Former Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan and Former Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The two sides had a discussion on how to promote institutional cooperation between SIIS and FPRI and signed the memorandum of understanding.

Mr. Rakhimov Rakhymzhan, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Shanghai witnessed the signing of the MoU. Dr. Qiang Xiaoyun, Ms. Zhu Juhua, Dr. Cao Jiahan and Ms. Xu Xiaolan from SIIS participated in the event.
