On
December 27, 2021, the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS)
co-organized the Conference of “China and Kazakhstan: 30 years on the Road of
Friendship, Good-Neighborliness and Cooperation” along with the Consulate
General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Shanghai and the Foreign Policy
Research Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of
Kazakhstan (FPRI).
The
opening session of the conference was chaired by Dr. Qiang Xiaoyun, Director of
Center for Russian & Central Asia Studies of SIIS. Ambassador Bolat Nurgaliyev,
Chair of the Board of FPRI, Professor Chen Dongxiao, President of SIIS, Ambassador
Galym Koyshibayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to China, and Mr.
Jiao Huaixin, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan
delivered opening remarks. Mr. Rakhymzhan Rakhimov, Consul General of the
Republic of Kazakhstan in Shanghai delivered a speech at the closing session.
Nearly
twenty experts from FPRI, Institute of World Economy and Politics of the Fund
of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - the Leader of the Nation,
Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic
of Kazakhstan, Center for China Studies, Kazakh Invest national company,
Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai International Studies University,
Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, and SIIS had
an in-depth discussion on regional dynamics and the prospect of China-Kazakhstan
cooperation in trade and investment.
